Chevy S10 Front Drive Shaft

Our offerings will depend on exactly which version of the 233 transfer case you have and if you have locking hubs or not. In one version, the front drive shaft spins all the time. In another it does not.

If to have the version where the drive shaft does not spin all the time, we modify part of your original drive shaft and build a new-replacement drive shaft as is represented bottom photo below.

The top photo should represent your current drive shaft. The price of this conversion is $409.00. Initially and on top of this, we will charge a $100.00 core charge for the portion of the drive shaft that we must re-use. This core charge can be avoided, by you, if you sent this piece to us in advance.

In order to build this drive shaft, we will need a reference measurement for the length. This will be from the end of the out-put shaft on the transfer case to the face of the pinion yoke, at the differential end as is represented with the photo below. This measurement should be taken with the suspension normally loaded (static ride height). Your tape measure should also follow the approximate slope of the drive shaft, going straight from point to point (no bend in the tape measure) and it should be done at about the 3 or 9 O’clock positions at each end (center height).

If your front drive shaft does spin all the time, We suggest that you convert your front out-put ,on tour transfer case, to one that is used on the 231 transfer case then run a double cardan drive shaft like the one represented in the photo below. The easiest and cheapest way to do this is for you to get a 231 transfer case and swap out a few things. Certainly you will need the front out-put shaft from the 231 transfer case but, you may also need to use the chain and chain sprockets from the 231 transfer case as they may be different from what is currently in your 233 transfer case. If you choose to go with this rout, any 231 from a Jeep application will supply you with the transfer case parts that you need. If you can get 231 transfer case from a TJ or XJ version, it will even have the correct yoke for a double cardan drive shaft. Otherwise, you will need a new out-put yoke that is compatible with both the transfer case and the double cardan drive shaft. We sell this yoke for $60.00.

For this drive shaft, we have a few options available. (Please refer to the attached art). Either would be made with upgraded heavy wall tube larger/stronger slip yoke & spline stub @ $269.00 (S spline) or the top of the line shaft with the longer travel slip & spline (XC or XB Spline) for $299.00. Of course, these would be built with our “Gold-Seal” universal joints. For long term value, I consider the top of the line shaft to be the best value.

In order to build the double cardan drive shaft, you will first need to do the conversion on the transfer case, then provide us with a reference measurement for the length as is represented below. This is from the face of the out-put yoke on the transfer case to the face of the yoke on the differential, which is the same as centerline of universal joint at each end. This measurement should be taken with the suspension normally loaded (static ride height). Your tape measure should also follow the approximate slope of the drive shaft, going straight from point to point (no bend in the tape measure) and it should be done at about the 3 or 9 O’clock positions at each end (center height).

Once the product is ordered, it will ship the following business day. We pay freight (UPS Ground, lower 48 states). However, we do add on a $10.00 packaging & processing charge. With multiple drive shafts, there would be multiple packaging charges.

Note: Most drive shafts shown in photos are polished and clear coated, this finish adds $25 the cost. We only recommend the polish & clear coat for show vehicles or very dry climates.
