TJ Front Drive Shaft
Front drive shaft for Jeep TJ or LJ. Does not fit Rubicon model.
TJ front drive shaft replacement is a good idea for almost any TJ that is still running a stock drive shaft. TJ stock front drive shafts used fairly low grade components. Add a lift, bigger tires, and 14+ years of wear and tear and the result could be badly worn or even worse a broken stock drive shaft. Tom Wood's TJ drive shafts are built using only the highest quality components. Key features listed below.
- 2" diameter 0.120" wall USA made DOM tube.
- Bigger and stronger than stock spline stub.
- Forged slip yoke.
- Greaseable CV center ball.
- Your choice between Tom Wood's exclusive Gold Seal greaseable universal joints or non-greaseable joints.
- Comes with new CV bolts with reduced head for ease of installation.
- Best of all every shaft is custom built to whatever length you need. So you can be sure that you will get the right thing the first time around.
Jeep TJ front drive shaft lengths vary a bit and we want to make sure you get the right thing. That is why we require a length measurement before building the shaft. Measuring is simple and easy. You can read more about how to measure in the link below.
We recommend a new set of straps and bolts to securely attach your new drive shaft.
After re-gearing I had a driveline vibration around 65mph. I removed the front shaft and isolated that it was the problem. I even rebuilt the front shaft with all new u-joints and a centering yoke and still had the vibration. I assumed the shaft was just turning too fast with the new gears. After 3 years the splines were no longer tight, and I decided to buy a new Tom Wood driveshaft. That changed my whole world! Now it drives smooth as glass all the way up to 80mph! I can't recommend Tom Wood's enough. Thank you Shawn and the whole team at Tom Wood's Custom Drive Shafts!
I originally got a rear cv driveshaft for the yoke slip eliminator kit I installed along with adjustable control arms. Found out about Tom Woods from a coworker and could not be happier with the quality and craftsmanship of their driveshafts. So when my front driveshaft began making noise I decided to make the right decision and have a custom length driveshaft made for my setup/lift instead of rebuilding the original one. Extremely happy with the change in ride quality, stronger upgrade from stock, and lack of annoying chirping.
Easy on line ordering, no hassle, received shafts in days as ordered.
I followed the websites instructions for measuring the DS and placed an order online. I set the pinion angle properly the next day (should have done this first) by dialing in my front control arms. After getting everything set, I re-measured and discovered it was 3/4 inches longer than I ordered! I called to see if the driveshaft had been made yet, and Jon said it had. I told him my measurement problem and asked if they could just charge me and fix it before it shipped out. He said UPS hadn't picked up yet, and if I didn't mind waiting an extra day, he'd get it corrected free of charge! It arrived in less than a week and it has been problem and vibration free since install about a month ago. I highly recommend Tom Wood's. They have excellent customer service and are problem solvers. They earned a customer for life.
Good packaging, easy install, looks strong, I just gotta stay off logs.
