Jeep JL Rear Drive Shaft
Jeep JL drive shaft noise. . . it is a common problem and is inevitable on nearly all lifted Jeep JL Wranglers. It comes down to the design. The stock drive shafts use Rzeppa CV joints that were designed only to work in stock Jeeps. Just a few inches of lift is enough to cause these CV joints to fail (watch the video below). JL drive shaft rebuild kits just don't cut it. That is why almost all JL drive shaft replacements are upgraded to a double cardan design (a double cardan is also commonly called a cv). This shaft will handle the angles that your stock drive shaft can not. The double cardan drive shaft is a time tested design that has proven itself in thousands of other Jeeps.
Tom Wood's 1350 series JL rear shaft comes with the required output yoke for the transfer case and the required pinion yoke. Please select whether you have the 35 or 44 rear end.

Jeep JL rear drive shaft lengths vary a bit and we want to make sure you get the right thing. That is why we require a length measurement before building the shaft. Measuring is simple and easy. Measure as shown in the photo in the product photos on this page. You can measure with or without the stock shaft installed.
Needed this as I smashed my stock drive shaft. Ordered and two days later it was on my front porch. Install was straight forward and I can feel the difference. It felt a little off after the install so I reached out via email and got a response from Shaun Woods the same evening. He pointed me in the right direction to solve a loose bolt. Feels and drives great and their support is unmatched
Let's see where we stand in a year after a few dozen trips to Rausch Creek... Lols.. But the driveshaft is heave duty, install took about an hour with a friend, and a huge upgrade over the stock driveshaft that failed. Took it out for some fun this past weekend, and performed flawlessly. Happy so far! Delivery was quick as well. I beat my Jeep pretty good... so the Extra Thick tube walls is a nice touch as well. Happy.
Shafts arrived 2 days after ordering to my residence in Southern California. Bolted right up in under an hour. Perfectly balanced and finished beautifully. Such a relief to get parts quickly from at least one jeep aftermarket parts vendor! Thanks guys!
I had another brand on my JK. I tried Tom Woods when I needed a front shaft and liked it so much, I came back when I was ready for the rear. Perfect length, flanges and yokes are great. I got the greaseable joints, and holy cow - they come with grease dripping out of everywhere. Definitely ready to bolt right in (after a wipe down).
Serious beef here! In our post covid world where wait times for parts can and have been months for myself and others I had this CUSTOM BUILT driveline in my hands within a week of ordering it. Seriously amazing! Great work guys! Now I just need to get around to ordering the front shaft to match.
