Drive shaft for Ford 8.8 swap

Ford 8.8 axles are a common upgrade for the Jeep YJ, TJ, and XJ. Most people who do the 8.8 swap will tell us that they already have the "adapter". The so-called adapter is what we would call a flange yoke and is something that should be treated as part of the drive shaft. Here's why. The drive shaft needs to be built and balanced as a complete assembly, with all drive shaft parts installed. If you add parts to the shaft after it is balanced, you will likely have a high speed vibration problem. This could be because the flange yoke is slightly heavier on one side than the other, or that it is machined slightly off-center which in turn puts the entire drive shaft off-center, thus causing a vibration. We can and do build drive shafts for 8.8 swaps that include the correct flange yoke. Your Ford 8.8 pinion flange might have one of two bolt patterns, measure what you have and select the correct option in the drop down menu. If you have questions about any of this, give us a call! 

Shaft will require a slip yoke eliminator. 

  • Will bolt directly to your 8.8 pinion flange.

Quality product fast

This is not my first Tom Woods shaft. Iv ran a front shaft in my XJ for almost 10 years and it’s been amazing. I recently had a 8.8 swapped in the rear and a SYE kit installed. I already knew I’d be going with a Tom Woods driveshaft. The product looks great. Fit and finish is top notch. They are very fast at building your customs shaft and getting it out the door. Shipping takes longer than making the custom part. I placed my order around 10-11am EST on a Friday. My order shipped Monday. Not even 2 full business days is outstanding. I can’t speak much for customer service because I have not needed them which should say something itself. I did have to order a new boot for my front shaft but it was simple and in stock. The people at Tom Woods driveshafts are awesome and really good at what they do. I absolutely recommend them for anything they offer.

Rear drive shaft

Tom Woods delivered as usual! This is my 3rd drive shaft order for my Jeeps transition and as with all of the others this one fit like a glove and has already been proven on a couple of Crawler runs. I ordered the shaft online using the tools and instructions provided and I received the drive shaft in 2 1/2 days. 1988 yj with ford 8.8 swap

The driveshaft fit like a glove and actually just got it up to speed today on the highway after a couple of trips around the neighborhood and it's as smooth as silk. I was particularly happy about the 8.8 flange being supplied and balanced with the driveshaft.
I don't do particularly hard
wheeling but the extra security of knowing i have a Tom Woods driveshaft makes it a easier going on the trails. The value of quality to price is a given with this well built driveshaft. I almost forgot about the fast turnaround. 1 week from ordering to having it at my door.
