Toyota CV Front Drive Shaft
This will not work for any Toyota trucks that have a solid axle swap (SAS) or a shackle reversal. If you have an (SAS) or shackle reversal please call us. Or if you have something else that is creating a unique set of problems and need a shaft with abnormally high angle, long slip, or high strength, look here and give us a call for more info.
This is what you need if your Toyota is lifted and you are experiencing vibrations due to increased angles. Also a great upgrade for Toyota that came with a stock double cardan drive shaft. This is only for vehicles with a drive shaft length of 40" or less. For shafts longer than 40", look here.
Toyota drive shaft lengths and flange patterns vary. In our experience there is no single standard length or flange patterns for any particular model. To ensure that you get the right thing you will need to take a couple measurements before ordering your drive shaft. You need to measure the distance from your transfer case flange to your differential flange. You will also need to measure the bolt pattern at each end. It is important that you measure the bolt pattern on each end because they are often not the same at both ends.
Key product features
- Uses 1310 series universal joints. These are the most common size of u-joint there is. Replacement joints are much easier to find than stock Toyota style joints.
- Shaft uses 2" diameter .120" wall DOM steel tubing. Better quality and thicker tubing than stock Toyota shafts use.
- Can be built using our greaseable Goldseal universal joints or non-greaseable joints.
- Includes 8 new 10mm bolts and nuts which may be required at either end of the shaft.

Watch this video for a demonstration on measuring. The vehicle in the video is a Tacoma but the concept is the same for any Toyota.
Had a hard time installing the double cardan front. Quality is definitely there I'm not sure if it's because of the front cv 1 inch drop I have that moved that back side where the driveshaft mounts slightly higher into the oil pan. I couldn't install the cardan in reverse because I have my custom exhaust ran close too the other connection point. I had too shave off part of the side of the transmission pan just enough so the welded on weight for the balancing won't hit the corner lip of the transmission.
So just a heads up. If your upgrading too this double cardan instead of regular one you won't be able too get a cv drop spacer in there. If I did take out the spacers the cv boots would of worn out quick.
I love my double cardan drive shaft from Tom Wood’s
The website was self explanatory and easy to order the correct bolt pattern. Quick shipping and easy install for perfect fit! Highly recommend this product as it drives very smooth after doing suspension lift! Excellent price point and high quality easily makes this a 5 star!
Very impressed - FAST delivery to New Zealand, top build quality, perfect fit. I have owned lifted 80 series Landcruiser's for years and after fitting this front DC shaft, it's the smoothest and quietest I have owned or driven. Got rid of ALL vibrations and shaft noise that often comes with lifting these rigs. I will be in touch shortly to order a rear one! Cheers guys and thanks for making such a top quality product at a VERY reasonable price.
With a shaft that nice, I’ll have to show off my wood. Nice and smooth with a perfect fit.
