Toyota Land Cruiser CV Rear Drive Shaft

This is what you need if your Toyota Land Cruiser is lifted and you are experiencing vibrations due to increased angles. Also a great upgrade for Toyotas that came with a stock double cardan drive shaft. This is a rear shaft only and can be made any length you need from 35" to 50" long. If you are looking for a front shaft, look here. If you can't find exactly what you are looking for give us a call.

Toyota drive shaft lengths and flange patterns vary. In our experience there is no single standard length nor flange pattern for any particular model. To ensure that you get the right thing you will need to take a couple measurements before ordering your drive shaft. You need to measure the distance from your transfer case flange to your differential flange. You will also need to measure the bolt pattern at each end. It is important that you measure the bolt pattern on each end because they are often not the same at both ends.

Key Product features:

  • Uses 1310 series universal joints. These are the most common size of u-joints there is. Replacement joints are much easier to find than stock Toyota style joints.
  • Shaft uses 2.5" diameter .083 wall DOM steel tubing. Better quality tubing than stock Toyota shafts use.
  • Can be built using our greaseable Goldseal joints or non-greaseable joints.
  • Includes 8 new 10mm bolts and nuts which may be required at either end of the shaft for installation.

Watch the video below for a demonstration on measuring. The vehicle in the video is a Tacoma but the concept is the same for any Toyota. Call us with any questions.

Great drive shaft for my Land Cruiser 80

Excellent build quality, went with the DC and heavy DOM option…custom built and to me in less than a week for almost the same price as the OEM replacement. My splines were getting sloppy on my OEM and due to be replaced. Looking forward to wheeling with this in a few weeks! So far, it’s nice and smooth on my road tests, thanks for a great product!

1994 Landcruiser 6inch lift

Beautiful driveshaft. Fixed the annoying grrrr I was getting with deceleration. Only thing I don't like is one zerk on the sliding part of the unit is in a very vulnerable place, switched it with a plug. Tom Wood make it a low profile fitting or send a plug. Otherwise seems pretty bulletproof. 10/10

Just what my FZJ80 needed

This double cardan fixed all my vibration issues at speed with my 4” lift. I adjusted the pinon angle as specified in their instructions and ran holy cross. No issues at all and drove 13 hours total to get there and home over the weekend.

Highly recommended!

I ordered both shafts for my 5" lifted 96 Land Cruiser. Completely eliminated all vibration. Great build quality and customer service.

FZJ80 Vibes and Grrrrr Noise Fixed

After lifting my 80-series Land Cruiser 3” there was initially no noticeable driveline vibration or noises. Once I regeared front and rear diffs, I had a definite issue where I kept getting a “grrrrr” noise just when letting off the throttle (apparently from having tighter tolerances on pinion bearings and the vibration now showing up in the u-joints). I had a local driveline shop rebalance my rear driveshaft which ended up being a waste of $$$$. They couldn’t even tell me if it was out of balance when they started, they may have just painted it, no one could say.
Tom Wood’s website and YouTube videos have a lot of great info that was helpful with troubleshooting my issue and just gaining general knowledge about drivelines (more than my local “reputable” shop seemed to understand).
I ended up speaking with Shawn Woods on the phone before making my order, he was helpful and great to work with. After several weeks of troubleshooting, I opted for Double Cardan shafts for the front and rear, completing my order on a Monday. Both driveshafts were on my front door step by Friday evening and had my Land Cruiser back on the road the next morning with no more noises or vibration.

I will be using Tom Wood’s Custom Driveshafts in the future.
