CJ Rear Drive Shaft, Double Cardan

1310 series rear drive shaft for Jeep CJ. Double cardan type, also known as a CV. This is what you need if your Jeep is lifted and you are experiencing vibrations or other problems due to increased angles. Unless it has already been upgraded, you will need a new double cardan compatible yoke for the transfer case and may require axle shims. Dana 18 transfer cases require a 10 spline yoke. Dana 300 transfer cases require a 26 spline yoke. Dana 20 transfer cases could be either, if you have a Dana 20 transfer case you will need to count the number of splines on the output shaft or old yoke. Select which yoke you need in the dropdown menu on this page and it will be included with your order.  This shaft is built using 1310 series joints which is the standard size for a CJ, if you have a non-stock transfer case, axle, or something else that may affect yoke/joint size it is a good idea to double check the size of your joints. A 1310 series joint is approximately 3 1/4 wide from end of cap to end of cap.

I have a 2 1/2" lift and didn't think it was enough to impact rear output shaft. I never really felt any vibration but my rear output shaft seal would leak a lot at high speed. I did a lot of reading & YouTubing and decided to try the double cardan drive shaft. Of course Tom Wood's is at the top of the list for a reason. You just can't beat the quality & workmanship of their products. The shaft fit perfectly. And the seal finally stopped leaking. I am a Tom Wood's customer for life.

Cj7 double cardigan driveshaft

The instructions online were great and told me how to measure the custom shaft for my LS1 swapped cj7, read up on the axle angle wedges and use the calculator and everything came out as expected and showed up faster than expected.

This is your driveshaft’s favorite driveshaft

This is my second driveshaft from Tom Woods and will not be my last. Quick turnaround and expert craftsmanship are what you get. I have a double cardan in my CJ7 with 8” lift on 1 ton axles and a detroit locker and there is no vibration. The latest is on a CJ7 with 5” lift. Have not used it yet but it is installed and looks perfect.

Works great. Runs smooth. Not sure about the tool for greasing the ball; it doesn't appear to have a hole for the grease to go into the ball.
Website was great for helping figure out the correct shims and angles.
