CJ Rear Drive Shaft, Double Cardan

1310 series rear drive shaft for Jeep CJ. Double cardan type, also known as a CV. This is what you need if your Jeep is lifted and you are experiencing vibrations or other problems due to increased angles. Unless it has already been upgraded, you will need a new double cardan compatible yoke for the transfer case and may require axle shims. Dana 18 transfer cases require a 10 spline yoke. Dana 300 transfer cases require a 26 spline yoke. Dana 20 transfer cases could be either, if you have a Dana 20 transfer case you will need to count the number of splines on the output shaft or old yoke. Select which yoke you need in the dropdown menu on this page and it will be included with your order.  This shaft is built using 1310 series joints which is the standard size for a CJ, if you have a non-stock transfer case, axle, or something else that may affect yoke/joint size it is a good idea to double check the size of your joints. A 1310 series joint is approximately 3 1/4 wide from end of cap to end of cap.

A quality product. Very happy. Came with the Dana 300 yoke although that was not immediately clear on the website and I ended up buying one with the order. So have a spare one now.

CJ Driveshafts

I installed 4-1/2" lift Rubicon springs on my 1978 CJ7 many years ago but didn't change the driveshafts (I installed the 1" skid-plate-lowering spacers at the time). I decided to finally improve this and I removed the 1" lowering spacers and replaced the stock front and rear driveshafts with Tom Wood's double-cardan drive shafts, and installed rear pinion shims (I purchased 8-degree shims and installed them with 1-degree shims I already had). Bottom line: Excellent service and delivery, and heavy-duty, quality driveshafts!! Also, the technical tools on Tom Wood's website are exceptional (don't overlook the FAQs!)!! Only one small problem: the button-heads on the pinion shim spring thru-bolts provided with the pinion shims were too large for the spring perch recesses on my CJ7, I had to remove about 1/16" from the diameters to get them to fit. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Tom Wood's!!

Installed on 76 CJ-5 w/4 in lift

I received my double cardan drive shaft within 4 days of ordering it. After installing, the terrible vibration I had is gone. Incredible difference. Also installed the 12° shims I received. I called for info twice before ordering, they answered both calls and were extremely helpful. Great company. Great tech support. Great craftsmanship.
