Toyota CV Drive Shaft
If you have an SAS, leaf springs with more than 4 inches of lift, or something else that is creating a unique set of problems give us a call for more info as this shaft will not work for your application.
This is what you need if your Toyota is lifted and you are experiencing vibrations due to increased angles. Also a great upgrade for Toyota that came with a stock double cardan drive shaft. This will not work for any Toyota trucks that have a solid axle swap (SAS). This is also only for vehicles with a drive shaft length of 40" or less. For shafts longer than 40", look here. If your shaft length is less than 19.75" you will have to select the S spline. If you have an SAS or something else that is creating a unique set of problems give us a call for more info.
Toyota drive shaft lengths and flange patterns vary. In our experience there is no single standard length or flange patterns for any particular model. To ensure that you get the right thing you will need to take a couple measurements before ordering your drive shaft. You need to measure the distance from your transfer case flange to your differential flange. You will also need to measure the bolt pattern at each end. It is important that you measure the bolt pattern on each end because they are often not the same at both ends.
Key product features
- Uses 1310 series universal joints. These are the most common size of u-joint there is. Replacement joints are much easier to find than stock Toyota style joints.
- Shaft uses 2" diameter .120" wall DOM steel tubing. Better quality and thicker tubing than stock Toyota shafts use.
- Can be built using our greaseable Goldseal universal joints or non-greaseable joints.
- Includes 8 new 10mm bolts and nuts which may be required at either end of the shaft.

Watch this video for a demonstration on measuring. The vehicle in the video is a Tacoma but the concept is the same for any Toyota.
I called before I ordered because I was uncertain about exactly what I needed. They were very knowledgeable about my 94 Land Cruiser and got me setup with exactly the right front drive shaft. Shipping was fast and the fit was perfect! No more drive train vibration!
I ordered this DC drive shaft for my 1996 Landcruiser (2” lift), I had been chasing a noise that sounded like it might have been a spindle bushing or bearing in the transfer case. I read a post on Mud and took a chance and it’s exactly what the doctor ordered. Easy ordering, fast shipping and it fit like a glove. If you have any issues with your 80 series I highly recommend these DC shafts.
Very happy with my driveshaft, have a six inch lifted fzj80 and the shaft works great. It shipped very fast too. No complaints. Would only be better if it came with Toyota u joints instead of 1310 but I’m still happy with the 1310
Lifted my LX450 and had drive shaft vibrations. Ordered a Tom Woods Drive Shaft and it drives So Much better!! I am super pleased with the high quality work and craftsmanship! I will be ordering another one for the rear!
Thanks Tom Woods!!
I lifted my 96 Cruiser 2" in the front and 3" in the back. The back was sorted with new upper control arms.
And even though I was able to sort the front castor with a pair of SuperPro control arms, I would still get vibration when decelerating between 65-75 MPH. The double-cardan shaft eliminated 90% of this.
I noted some initial slow speed vibration (30-40 MPH) that I assumed was just a shaft well packed with grease.
As expected, this smoothed out completely after just a few miles.
Tom's reputation is well earned. A great product delivered quickly.
