YJ Rear Drive Shaft, Double Cardan

Rear drive shaft for Jeep YJ. Double cardan type, also know as a CV. This is what you need if your Jeep is lifted and you are experiencing vibrations or other problems due to increased angles. Shaft will require a slip yoke eliminator.

  • Your choice between Tom Wood's exclusive Gold Seal greaseable universal joints or non-greaseable joints.
  • Comes with new CV bolts with reduced head for ease of installation.
  • Best of all every shaft is custom built to whatever length you need. So you can be sure that you will get the right thing the first time around.

Jeep YJ rear drive shaft lengths vary a bit and we want to make sure you get the right thing. That is why we require a length measurement before building the shaft. Measuring is simple and easy. You can read more about how to measure in the link below. 

IMPORTANT The '87-'93 model YJs use a 1310 series yoke at the axle. '94 and '95 models used a wider 1330 series joint. Please select the correct year for your Jeep in the drop down menu.

Superb Service

Before ordering my new rear drive shaft I made a call to Tom Woods shop got to talk with a very experienced man ( sorry didn’t get name) he answered all questions, I ordered right after call. As promised my new drive shaft showed 4 days later to Canada. Fit perfect old YJ never felt so smooth.

Slingin the Best Shaft

This is my second driveshaft purchased from Tom Woods and it's just a perfect as the first. I will use these guys for every driveshaft and associated part I need, and have had that though since my first purchase. Sean and the team worked with me through multiple phone calls to answer my (probably overthought) questions so the custom shaft I ordered was the perfect setup upon arrival. Not once did I feel like my questions were dumb, and appreciated the ACTUAL MATH they would run through with me to make sure I was getting the product I needed. Oh and their shipping rips, like they have their own B-1B cruising at mach 1.5 with it's quad afterburners straight to my house, where they drop their laser guided driveshaft aimed squarely at the back of my NP231J. F*&k yea.

YJ Rear Drive Shaft, Double Cardan

The U-Joints in Tom Woods Double Cardan Rear Drive Shaft installed in my 1994 YJ in 2002 started fail causing the drive shaft to vibrate. The failure of the joints was most likely due to my failure to keep them properly lubricated. All three U-Joints needed replacement. After checking a local driveline shop, I decided to order an new drive shaft from Tom Woods. In addition, I ordered a Strap and Bolt Set and a new Transfer Case Yoke. I ordered the shaft and other items on Thursday night and all items were shipped out on the following Monday. They came all assembled and protectively wrapped.

Thank you for the quick turn around. And, it fit exactly as it should. Best of all, the vibration has been eliminated. I am very satisfied.
