Measure Your Liberty/Grand Cherokee Rezeppa-Rezeppa Front Driveshafts
OEM Drive Shaft
In vehicles with 4" of lift or less, we have had good success with replacing this drive shaft with a conventional double cardan (3 U joints) type drive shaft.
For the conventional double cardan drive shaft itself we have two different options available. Either shaft would be built brand new, complete with our “Gold Seal” joints & balanced. All drive shafts are built from all premium quality components. Using our S spline the shaft is $369.00. Or our top of the line shaft, built with long travel full length ( XC or XB) slip & spline is $389.00. For long term dollar spent, I consider the latter to be the best value.

Alternatively, if you have more lift than 4 inches of lift and or want the smoothest possible configuration, we suggest our multiple double cardan drive shaft (4 U joints). This drive shaft can only be built with our S spline. The cost for this shaft is $619.00. This price is for just the drive shaft and does not include the required yokes for the transfer case and pinion.
Either of these shafts will require changing the pinion flange ($55 or $60) and the out-put flange from the transfer case. In order to correctly identify the transfer case out-put yoke we may need a spline count. If this is required, remove the nut and washer that is in the center of the flange and count the splines. There will be either 26 or 32. Plan on $75-$90 for this yoke.
We will also need a measurement for the length. Refer to the attached art for a close representation. You can measure either "face to face" which is just inside the pilot, or "lip to lip" of the flange (see picture below).
The S spline is a conventional spline stub that will yield a safe, effective and usable stroke of 3”. The X spline is longer than the S spline. The X spline is cut for the full length of the spline stub. This gives a bit more than twice the contact area between the slip yoke and spline stub and a stroke of 4-1/2". This in and of itself will net more than twice the life on these two components.
With the XB configuration, we will use a heavy rubber boot which is banded down with stainless steel banding to seal all of the contaminates out and keep the grease in. The XC configuration uses the same slip yoke & spline stub but instead of using the rubber boot, we drill and tap the slip yoke for a grease fitting and use a dust cap which has convolutions that follow the spline stub for sealing. The XB is best for wet and dirty conditions. The XC is best for rocks and extreme wheeling.
