JK Front Drive Shaft, 1350 Series
Jeep JK front drive shaft noise. . . it is a common problem and is inevitable on nearly all lifted Jeep JK Wranglers. It comes down to the design. The stock drive shafts use Rzeppa CV joints that were designed only to work in stock Jeeps. Two or three inches of lift is enough to cause these CV joints to fail (watch the video below). JK drive shaft rebuild kits just don't cut it. That is why almost all JK drive shaft replacements are upgraded to a double cardan design (a double cardan is also commonly called a cv). The double cardan shaft will handle the angles that your stock drive shaft can not. The double cardan drive shaft is a time tested design that has proven itself in thousands of other Jeeps.
Tom Wood's 1350 series JK front shaft comes with the required output yoke for the transfer case and the bolts directly to the stock pinion flange. If you don't have stock flanges at both the transfer case and axle currently this shaft may not work and you should call us for more information.

Ordering process was easy and TW Team provided all the measurement insight you'll need. TW had 1350 front/rear DS's built and shipped in 4 days. Everything arrived as advertised and in perfect condition. Lot's of great vids on the TW site and on YT to help. A 1/14" and 32mm impact sockets were needed, everything else was common for a DIY toolbox. Installed in about 5 hours by myself. Just an awesome experience working with the TW Team.
Ordered 1350s for the front and rear, and they're solid! The packaging was very strong, they arrived promptly (for where I live), and included instructions and decals, as well as a grease gun fitting for routine maintenance. I'm super enthused here, can you tell?
There's only one recommendation that I can think of, and that's to open up the bolt areas on the front transfer case yoke about a millimeter or two in order to get a good 1/2" wrench in there on those bolts. My wrenches almost did, but not quite. You'll need a very short socket and ratchet. Very short.
Also, there's no need to remove the factory front differential yoke (the front shaft doesn't come with a replacement), BUT, it's not a bad idea to do so and add some grease to that seal. Mine was bone dry and was beginning to rub away. I caught it just in time. Just go ahead and do it - you'll thank yourself for it later.
I'm about to put these through a rural N. Idaho winter through salt and rough dirt roads. Will report back in May!
After much research I purchased the 1350 custom for my JK. After brief conversation with Tom’s, the drive shaft was shipped within 24 hrs. I received the drive shaft within a couple of days and installed it that day. Installation was easy and I was back on the road in a few hours. I can’t wait to test it on the trails! No issues so far…highly recommended!
Jk drive shaft 1350 custom, fast shipping and quality work! thanks again!!
Pros - Fast shipping, fits perfect and I have detected no vibration up to 80 mph.
Cons - Took a beating in shipping, especially around the double cardan area, maybe needs reenforced packing in that area. The carriers don’t care like they used too!
Will be ordering a rear soon! Thanks Tom Woods.
