JK Rear Drive Shaft, 1350 Series
Jeep JK drive shaft noise. . . it is a common problem and is inevitable on nearly all lifted Jeep JK Wranglers. It comes down to the design. The stock drive shafts use Rzeppa CV joints that were designed only to work in stock Jeeps. Just a few inches of lift is enough to cause these CV joints to fail (watch the video below). JK drive shaft rebuild kits just don't cut it. That is why almost all JK drive shaft replacements are upgraded to a double cardan design (a double cardan is also commonly called a cv). This shaft will handle the angles that your stock drive shaft can not. The double cardan drive shaft is a time tested design that has proven itself in thousands of other Jeeps.
Tom Wood's 1350 series JK rear shaft comes with the required output yoke for the transfer case and the required pinion flange.
If you have a suspension lift, you may need to rotate the differential for the CV type drive shaft. This is typically done with adjustable control arms. Pinion should be approximately 1 to 3 degree’s lower than the slope of the drive shaft.

I needed the rear DS replaced because I broke down when the CV joint sheared off and the DS dropped. Thankfully the skid plate prevented it from dropping on the ground. In hindsight, I did notice vibration when shifting in in the middle gears. But thought the tires needed balancing or something install went near flawless. Besides the tight spaces on the flange bolts, these were an easy install. Most of the time was getting the OEM DS off! They just needed length measurements and they shipped next day. If I ever need drive shafts again, Tom Woods will be the place. Thanks so much! My rig drives so much smoother in both 2WD and 4WD.
Ordered 1350s for the front and rear, and they're solid! The packaging was very strong, they arrived promptly (for where I live), and included instructions and decals, as well as a grease gun fitting for routine maintenance. I'm super enthused here, can you tell?
There's only one recommendation that I can think of, and that's to open up the bolt areas on the front transfer case yoke about a millimeter or two in order to get a good 1/2" wrench in there on those bolts. My wrenches almost did, but not quite. You'll need a very short socket and ratchet. Very short.
Also, there's no need to remove the factory front differential yoke (the front shaft doesn't come with a replacement), BUT, it's not a bad idea to do so and add some grease to that seal. Mine was bone dry and was beginning to rub away. I caught it just in time. Just go ahead and do it - you'll thank yourself for it later.
