Discovery 2 Front Drive Shaft

Land Rover Discovery front drive shaft replacement is a good idea for almost any Discovery 2 that is still running a stock drive shaft. Disco 2 stock front drive shafts used fairly low grade components. Add a lift, bigger tires, and years of wear and tear and the result could be badly worn or even worse a broken stock drive shaft. Tom Wood's drive shafts are built using only the highest quality components. Key features listed below.

  • 2" diameter 0.120" wall USA made DOM tube.
  • 1310 series joints.
  • Bigger and stronger than stock spline stub.
  • Forged slip yoke.
  • Greaseable CV center ball. This is an important one. Because of the proximity to the heat of the catalytic converter, regular greasing is a must.
  • Your choice between Tom Wood's exclusive Gold Seal greaseable universal joints or non-greaseable joints.
  • Bolts directly to your stock transfer case and differential flanges.
  • Best of all every shaft can be custom built to whatever length you need. So you can be sure that you will get the right thing the first time around.

Instant solution and peace of mind

Fantastic product. Well built, fully serviceable, grease nipples all over the place. I’m confident it can stand up to the test of time with regularly maintenance.
I had a stock front drive shaft that was getting ready to meet the insides of the transmission; had me tip-toeing my disco around town before the vibrations were getting way too scary, and eventually I parked it up out of fear that I would push it too far. People kept telling me it was probably unbalanced wheels, warped rotors or loose bushings/rod ends. But none of that symptoms were adding up to those. I had a hunch that it was coming from drive line, the vibration was too distinct. I decided to pull the trigger on a upgraded driveshaft. 5 days after ordering it (I’m up in Alberta) a new Tom Woods custom length drive shaft showed up at my door. I had it bolted in next afternoon after work. A few new nylocks and boom, INSTANT RELIEF! The vibrations were gone and I could drive with a renewed sense of confidence. That feeling you get when your hunch was right, and YOU fix the problem, mmm, best feeling ever. Looking forward to lots more off-roading with a little less anxiety XD.

GREAT build quality and customer service. Couldn't ask for more....but

Both their product and service was stellar.....couldn't have been better. GREAT WORK GUYS!

BUT.....The only down side was UPS customs clearance charges were more the $90 while the taxes I had to pay were only 20 some odd dollars. That was more the double what was paid for the shipping with UPS. In comparison Fedex allows the first 5 items in a shipment to be cleared free of charge, only payments for federal taxes to be billed to the recipient. And after that fedex only bills $4.50 per item after the first five items. NOT the fault of Tom Wood's by any means, but still more the 15% added to the bill in the end when it doesn't need to be.

I couldn’t be happier !!! Build quality is second to none

After blowing through 2 factory style drive shafts in less than 1000 miles on my lifted Land Rover . I decided to pay a little more money and buy a ton woods . My only regret is not doing so in the first place . Easy install , great build quality and well balanced . The slip yoke has lots of room as well .
