JK Front Drive Shaft, 1350 Series

Jeep JK front drive shaft noise. . . it is a common problem and is inevitable on nearly all lifted Jeep JK Wranglers. It comes down to the design. The stock drive shafts use Rzeppa CV joints that were designed only to work in stock Jeeps. Two or three inches of lift is enough to cause these CV joints to fail (watch the video below). JK drive shaft rebuild kits just don't cut it. That is why almost all JK drive shaft replacements are upgraded to a double cardan design (a double cardan is also commonly called a cv). The double cardan shaft will handle the angles that your stock drive shaft can not. The double cardan drive shaft is a time tested design that has proven itself in thousands of other Jeeps.

Tom Wood's 1350 series JK front shaft comes with the required output yoke for the transfer case and the bolts directly to the stock pinion flange. If you don't have stock flanges at both the transfer case and axle currently this shaft may not work and you should call us for more information.

Ordered the dbl cardan 1350 shaft for 2018 jku. Well packaged, beefy as all get out, pre-greased and a piece of artwork! Havent got it dirty yet but I have no doubt it will be bombproof for my style wheeling. 2nd time purchasing a TW driveshaft(89’ Cherokee) and the 3rd will be for the rear of this JKU…..highly recommend

1350 JK Front Drive Shaft

Shaft is beefy and well made but NOT well packaged. I received the shaft about a week after ordering it. The shaft had plastic and paper wrapped around the joints but NOTHING to isolate it from movement within the box. My double cardan joint was all scratched up from banging its way through the box on all sides during shipping. Instructions were good other than a couple type-o's. Once I completed the installation I realized that there was barely daylight between the new tcase front output yoke and the tcase housing's shift lever. The clearance was only .030"! The instructions should recommend a little clearance grinding on the forward edge of the shift lever PRIOR to installing the new yoke. I had to cover my new joint with painters tape and carefully clearance the lever with a small air grinder. I opened the gap to .063". I don't expect the tcase output shaft to deflect at all under load and contact the shift lever but I'd rather be proactive vs reactive.
