Toyota 4runner CV Rear Drive Shaft

This is what you need if your Toyota 4 Runner is lifted and you are experiencing vibrations due to increased angles. Also a great upgrade for Toyota that came with a stock double cardan drive shaft. This is a rear shaft only and can be made any length you need from 35" to 50" long. If you are looking for a front shaft look here. If you can't find exactly what you are looking for, give us a call.

Toyota drive shaft lengths and flange patterns vary. In our experience there is no single standard length or flange patterns for any particular model. To ensure that you get the right thing you will need to take a couple measurements before ordering your drive shaft. You need to measure the distance from your transfer case flange to your differential flange. You will also need to measure the bolt pattern at each end. It is important that you measure the bolt pattern on each end because they are often not the same at both ends.

Key product features

  • Uses 1310 series universal joints. These are the most common size of u-joint there is. Replacement joints are much easier to find than stock Toyota style joints.
  • Shaft uses 2.5" diameter .083" wall DOM steel tubing. Better quality tubing than stock Toyota shafts use.
  • Can be built using our greaseable Goldseal universal joints or non-greaseable  joints.
  • Includes 8 new 10mm bolts and nuts which may be required at either end of the shaft.

Please check out our Toyota tech page below. If you have any questions along the way, give us a call.

Watch this video for a demonstration on measuring. The vehicle in the video is a Tacoma but the concept is the same for any Toyota.

Amazing Product - Even Better Service (2000 4Runner with 3" lift)

I ordered this driveshaft for my 2000 - 5 Speed Manual - 4WD(J-shifter) - Toyota 4Runner. Between the Bilstein/OME 3 inch lift kit and the nearly 240K miles (lots of which were heavy off road miles) on the original Driveshaft I was getting some bad vibrations that nearly made the truck undriveable at speeds above 40mph. I was going crazy replacing bushings, suspension, steering parts and still no luck... but this driveshaft fixed 100% of the vibration problem and even increased the power response through the drive train. It took less then a week from the time I placed the order to when the driveshaft was on my doorstep. I'm stoked that this driveshaft worked so well and that the future maintenance of this part will be easy to fix/repair compared to the OEM driveshaft. But the cherry on top is the amazing customer service that was given to me during the purchase of this new part. I screwed up and entered the measurements wrong on the website when placing my order but I was so thankful that Tom Wood's customer service caught my mistake and called me before shipping it out and made sure I had the correct driveshaft. I have order many different aftermarket parts for my yota but without a doubt Tom Wood's is the best company I have worked with.

1995 4Runner with 500k and a 2" lift

After 500,000 miles (and a fresh 2" lift) my 1995 4Runner started to vibrate over 40mph. I could hear it and feel it. With an astronomical parts & labor estimate from a local Toyota dealership, I decided to DIY. So, I called Tom Woods, immediately got in touch with a real, live human being, asked a few questions, made some quick measurements. Next thing you know, my new driveshaft made it to Minneapolis, well packaged (WITH FREE STICKERS and hardware) and ready for install. 8 bolts. Super easy. YOU CAN DO THIS. Fits perfect, and it's smooth as butter. Thanks, guys.

Solved All My Drivetrain Noise and Vibration

First time 4Runner owner (1999 SR5 4WD) and after purchasing, started getting a terrible "heavy gear" sound under load, 10-30 MPH that you could feel on the 4WD selector shaft and was loud enough to hear outside the truck. Did some looking and found rear U-Joint bad and also some minut play in the DC Joint. One shop said it was likely the transfer case. It had 234K miles. I dropped the rear driveshaft and ran on the front and the noise was gone; replacing the whole driveshaft was a no brainer.

Shawn was very helpful and I received it in 5 days. Bolted it in, and every noise and vibration was gone. 40+ years of wrenching on cars and this driveshaft was one of my best purchases; top notch fitment and quality of work. Thanks!
